  • Title I Programs
    Title I, Part a is a part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). This act provides federal funds through the georgia Department of Education to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging State academic content and student academic achievement standards.

    • Turner Woods Elementary School is a School Wide Title I school.
    • Turner Woods Elementary School is NOT a Focus, Priority, or Alert School as defined by GaDOE's Accountability Waiver.
    • Jones County Schools has no schools that have been labeled as Focus, Priority, or Alert schools, under Georgia new flexibility waiver.
Parent Resource Center

    Our Title I Parent Resource Center is located in the Media Center. The center is open daily from 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to come in to the Parent Resource Center, check out books, flash cards, learning games and other literature designed to help your child succeed at school. Please see Twana Brown Jackson - Parent Coordinator for more information.
  • Faculty Credentials and Certification/ Parent's Right to Know
    The Jones County School System is proud of the professional credentials of its teaching staff and will furnish you, upon request, the professional qualifications of any of your child's classroom teachers. This includes information concerning the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher is certified, the major fields and degrees held by the teacher, and the qualifications of any paraprofessional who provides services to your child.

    In compliance with the requirements of The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) the Jones County School System informs parents that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s). The following information may be requested:

    1. Whether the teacher has met the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements for certification for the grade level and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;
    2. Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or other provisional status through which Georgia qualifications or certification criteria have been waived;
    3. The college major and any graduate certification or degree held by the teacher;
    4. Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications.

    Turner Woods Elementary School continually monitors the implementation of the Title I plan and welcomes input from parents, school staff, and community members regarding it current and future Title I plans.     Jones Co. School System is thankful for its many volunteers throughout school sites.  The SAFETY and CONFIDENTIALITY of our students is of utmost importance.

    In order to ensure the safety of our students, volunteer policies and procedures are required for every volunteer. Please choose a date/time that is most convenient for you. If you are unable to attend a training at your child's school, please feel free to attend a volunteer training at another school. 

    If you have been trained within the past 2 years as a Parent Volunteer Training for any Jones County School, you do not have to attend another session. Questions: contact Ms. Twana Jackson – Parent Coordinator.
